The Task

 

In the following WebQuest, you and three other students will use the power of teamwork and the abundant amount and types of Internet resources to take a stand and voice your opinion on teenage depression.   Each group will randomly draw a piece of paper displaying one of three different scenarios which examine teenage depression and asks you what choices and arguments your group will make in response. 

 

This WebQuest will also help you gain a better understanding behind the hot topic of teenage depressioin by encouraging you to explore different resources (print, online, multimedia); use exciting and visually stunning graphics and charts (including the Venn diagram to concept mapping and persuasion charts); organize your findings and stand; and finally, each group will be able to present their point of views, arguments, and reactions to their scenario for your classmates to view and discuss.  So get ready to STAND UP AND SPEAK OUT on the topic of teenage depression!          

OBJECTIVES

  • Use the Internet and additional resources to gather information and make a logical and convincing presentation to express your viewpoints and ideas.
  • Organize findings and arguments using a variety of critical thinking skills, research and inquiry tools, and additional resources.
  • Present an engaging 10-15 minute oral presentation to your classmates.  Here are some examples of what your final project may look like:

   1.  Design a PowerPoint presentation

 

    2.  Make a "Teen Depression Public Awareness" commercial 

 

                        3.  Create a skit to present your viewpoints

 

4.  Design a poster, campaign sign or expression, or some other visual form of artwork expressing your group's viewpoints
